Active Release Techniques®

Targeted, movement-based soft-tissue treatment

ART® evaluates and treats soft-tissue restrictions—muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, and related nerve entrapments—while you often participate through specific movements.

  1. Identify restricted movement

Aneta evaluates how tissues move and where motion feels limited or tender.

  2. Apply targeted tension

Precise hand contact is used on the tissue believed to be contributing to the restriction.

  3. Move through a guided range

You often participate with specific movements while tension is maintained on the tissue.

Aneta was not only able to restore function to my frozen shoulder, she was also able to aid in restoring my faith in hands-on therapy. Her natural ability to feel her way around my pain and diagnose the root cause of that pain is unparalleled to anyone else I have seen.

Common questions

Before you book

Clear answers about ART® sessions with Aneta—so you can book with confidence.

What is Active Release Techniques®?

Active Release Techniques® (ART®) is a movement-based soft-tissue treatment method. Aneta evaluates restricted tissues and applies precise tension while you often move through guided ranges—targeting muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, and related nerve entrapments when appropriate.

Does ART® hurt?

ART® can feel intense on restricted tissue, especially where motion has been limited. Discomfort should remain tolerable and purposeful—not sharp or alarming. Aneta adjusts pressure based on your feedback throughout the session.

What should I wear?

Wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows movement—such as athletic pants, sweats, or shorts. Sessions are usually fully clothed without oils or lotions. Skin contact may occasionally be needed depending on the area treated.

Do I need a referral?

A referral is not required to book an ART® assessment with Aneta. If you have a complex medical history or recent injury, bring relevant details so she can assess safely and appropriately.

Can I use insurance?

Because sessions are provided by a Registered Massage Therapist, some benefit plans may cover them as massage therapy. Coverage varies and is not guaranteed. Confirm with your provider. Direct billing is available upon request.
